Guided Reading

Guided Reading, small class sizes, and differentiated learning to meet students' needs.

Ducor Union Elementary School utilizes a Guided Reading platform designed once again to meet the individual literacy needs of students using the Fountas and Pinnell literacy program. Students are routinely assessed to measure ongoing progress using the Benchmark Assessment System (BAS), a research based measure to evaluate fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Furthermore, the Acadience assessment is used to measure phonemic awareness progress over time. Small classes averaging 12-15 students per grade level allows us the ability to customize and work one on one with each student, more than other neighboring sites.
